When I was young I've been fascinated by technology and science. Mechanics, physics, chemistry and electronics have been main interests until I discovered computers, which soon took over as main interest.
Consequently I've studied computer science and some mechanical engineering and have been working many years as a software developer.
While this is a good education to make money, during the years my interest in technology dropped. From a field of interest it changed to tools which I use to achieve other things.
And while the interest in technology dropped, the interest in arts and design rose.
Some people talk about a mid-life crisis. I wouldn't want to call this period of age a crisis but it seems a to be a time for reconsideration and also change, making new plans for the second half of life.
I don't know if I have the talent, but I want to establish a second field in my life, the field of arts and design. It's been growing already in the past years, and while I might not be able to change from a technician to an artist completely, at least I want to fill my time with more artistic activities, and if it succeeds, maybe even take steps to make it a (second) profession. But that might be dreaming ...
I cannot draw or paint very well, my main focus is photography and working with the photos, to give them new and interesting effects. And I like to craft small things, arrangements and sculpture-like works, mainly influenced by dreams of foreign worlds and how nature might be there.
